The Maine Association of Assessing Officers is a nonpolitical and nonpartisan organization promoting the responsible and equitable assessment of real and personal property for the purposes of ad valorem municipal property taxation. The focus of the MAAO is the exchange of education, ideals and information through the united efforts and cooperation of its membership.
Benefits of Membership:
- Listserv: The MAAO Listserv is a communications
medium that will enable any
MAAO member to send a message to all
those members who have subscribed.
Share questions, comments, and information
with the members subscribed to this
list. The listserv is open to all MAAO members.
- Meets & Bounds: The MAAO Quarterly
Newsletter, is an informative resource that
is mailed to all of our members and can be
accessed on our website. Post employment
opportunities, find out information on the
latest training workshops and conferences
or just keep up on the latest news of the
Profession.
- Scholarship Opportunities: The MAAO is
pleased to annually offer full or partial
scholarships to both the Maine Revenue
Service Tax School, traditionally held in the
first week of August, and the MAAO Fall
Seminar, traditionally held in September.
These scholarships are awarded based on
need to MAAO members and applications
are available on the MAAO website.
- Annual Conference:The MAAO hosts a Fall Conference annually,
traditionally in September. Our Association
supports learning opportunities for our peers
and the Fall Conference is the ideal place to
attend training workshops and get credits
toward becoming a certified assessor and
maintaining this status. The Fall Conference
is typically a 3-day event, with the
opportunity to attend all or part of the
conference to experience some high-caliber
training, network with peers, learn about the
latest events in the profession, and visit with
vendors who will be displaying the latest
technology and products. We encourage
members and non-members to attend this
important annual event.
